About This Website
Although scholars have empirical evidence to suggest Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is beneficial for supplementing expressive communication in children with complex communication needs, they have missed the importance of making this information accessible to parents.

By educating parents about AAC, families will be better prepared to advocate for these devices and facilitate expressive communication with their child at home and in their natural settings.

Goals:
Explain AAC in terms that make sense to parents
Identify who uses AAC and for what reasons
Differentiate among the different types of AAC
Help families improve the communication of sons,
daughters, brothers, and sisters
